Robert E. Ellaby
Born at Prescot, Lancashire, England on 24th January, 1946, Robert Ellaby has been a student of the Western Mystery Tradition for over thirty years. His love of the Kabbala and Alchemy have been at the centre of his studies. They have, in turn, inspired his work and his paintings. The notion of turning base metal into gold he sees as a metaphor for what he seeks to achieve.

He has had three one-person exhibitions :

The Bridge Arts Centre, Widnes 1981
St. Helen's Museum 1989
Hanover Gallery (Liverpool) 1993

A former member of The National Acrylic Painters Association, he exhibited at their annual shows held at The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists gallery for several years. He also participated in a number of mixed exhibitions with them and others.
He is inspired by the work of Blake, Dali, and the illustrators Dulac and Dore.
He has sold a few of his paintings, which he finds rather sad, because he is not prolific in output, and the paintings take a long time to produce.
